New Def Leppard Video!

New Def Leppard Video! reports the video: Boasts space-age futurism, with tough new performance shots of Def Leppard – including a healed up, post-cancer Vivian Campbell – interspersed throughout. At one point, a robot views three separate band images before guitarists Phil Collen and Campbell trade a series of ferocious licks. The video, directed by Frank Gryner, concludes with the robot watching several spacecrafts zip away.

“Let’s Go,” principally written by bassist Rick Savage, is the lead single from Def Leppard’s new self-titled album, which was released today.

“It’s that three-minute pop-rock stuff with big chunky guitars and a big chorus,” Elliott described “Let’s Go.” “And it has that swaggering, mid-tempo rhythm, like ‘[Pour Some] Sugar [On Me]’ and ‘Rock of Ages.’ The idea was, we wanted something familiar. … For us, this is what we do. And it’s something we enjoy doing.”

Def Leppard is the band’s first studio recording since 2008’s Songs From the Sparkle Lounge. Campbell, who will also be part of a forthcoming album by Last in Line, initially thought he had beaten Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But he was forced into two rounds of chemo and a stem-cell transplant after learning the cancer had returned in 2013.
