Famous Rockers & Their Moms
KISS front man Gene Simmons is one of the owners of Rock & Brews. Through his mother, Simmons has said that he’s learned to believe the glass is always half full as opposed to half empty and that there is still a lot of good in the world. His mother, Flora Klein, miraculously survived the horrors of the holocaust as a young girl and then went on to raise Gene, her only child on her own. The entire staff would like to tip our hats to Gene’s mom and wish her a very happy Mother’s Day!
Jersey rocker, Bruce Springsteen honored his then 90 year old mom Adele Springsteen at a 2012 concert in Philly by bringing her onstage. The mom/son duo danced together for a slow song. When Bruce kicked things up a notch and performed “Dancing in the Dark”, mom Adele took a turn singing the song beside Springsteen and her daughter-in-law Patti Scialfia.
Last year, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora took time off from his busy schedule to travel from California back to his native New Jersey to care for his mother Joan who fractured her hip. While in the Garden State, Sambora used some of his time to get in touch with Bon Jovi co-star Tico Torres who was helping to care for his own mom who’d been unwell.
We salute these rockers and their moms as well, as rock stars who, in spite of their fame, know that they have one mother to love and honor for life!
