Meet the Executive Team
The Minds Behind Rock & Brews
Rock & Brews stands on a firm foundation of commitment from its founders and executive team. Combining the strengths and backgrounds of its founders explains why our company thrives. We pride ourselves on fusing our passion for Rock ‘n’ Roll, our appreciation of craft beer, and our desire for fresh, original fare that’s both comforting and unique.
A visionary entrepreneur, restaurateur, hotelier, and philanthropist, Michael Zislis has dazzled consumers with a series of well-loved and highly successful establishments. It all began when he brewed his first beer for a school “science experiment” at the age of 13. By the time he was a student at USC, he had become a master brewer.
In the late ’80s, Michael opened Manhattan Beach Brewing Company, one of the first brewpubs in California’s fledgling pub scene. Soon thereafter, he opened several other pubs up and down the coast, revealing a penchant for staying ahead of the curve on the craft beer scene, restaurant operations, and expansionism that he has carried with him into Rock & Brews.
Over the last 20 years, Michael has been responsible for introducing an impressive collection of successful restaurant concepts, ranging from brewpubs to fine-dining establishments.
In 2004, Michael transformed an urban revitalization project in Manhattan Beach into the area’s first and only luxury boutique hotel, Shade. It was named one of the Top 25 Trendiest Hotels in the U.S. by TripAdvisor, as well as being listed as Conde Nast Traveler’s #6 reason to visit Los Angeles. He opened his second Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach California in November 2016, and several others are in the works.
The Furano Brothers
Concert industry and merchandising veterans Dave and Dell Furano put the “rock” into Rock & Brews. Working side by side with legendary concert impresario Bill Graham, Dave served as President of “Bill Graham Presents,” as well as the tour manager for the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, George Harrison, and on Graham’s groundbreaking “Day on the Green” outdoor festivals. Over the course of his concert career, he also co-produced, along with Graham, the critically acclaimed Martin Scorsese film “The Last Waltz.”
The Furano Brothers are also widely acknowledged as pioneers of concert merchandising and founded legendary Winterland Productions with Graham in the late 1970s.
Younger brother Dell brings more than 35 years of experience in the music, entertainment, marketing, and licensing industries. Dell previously served as CEO of Live Nation Merchandise and CEO of Sony Signatures, Sony Corporation’s entertainment, merchandising, licensing, and consumer products division. Today, he is CEO of EpicRights and continues to represent some of the biggest names in Rock ‘n’ Roll. He’s had long working relationships with many tops bands including The Beatles, U2, Bruce Springsteen, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Madonna.
